Water Blueprint for the San Joaquin Valley

THE CLIENT

The Water Blueprint for the San Joaquin Valley, a coalition of water users, water districts, farmers, commodity groups, and municipalities engaged with environmental non-governmental organizations, community-based groups, and academia to advance common sense water solutions for our state, retained Vista Consulting to provide government relations support for their advocacy efforts surrounding the State of California’s 2021 drought response.

THE ISSUE

With a recent announcement by the Newsom Administration of $5.1 billion dedicated to drought mitigation and infrastructure projects, a wide array of ‘water solutions’ from a variety of special interest groups and organizations were vying to get on the radar of the administration.

THE STRATEGY

Vista Consulting created and implemented a thoughtful communications plan curated to gain the attention of the Newsom Administration in an effort to raise awareness about the water solutions advanced by the Water Blueprint for the San Joaquin Valley.  Central to the strategy, was a letter delivered to Governor Newsom that shared near-term investments for an effective drought response.

THE OUTCOME

Vista Consulting’s government relations strategy was successful.
